Baruch Was My Foundation

Anita and Maurice Lerman

It’s been a long time since Maurice Lerman graduated from Baruch in 1952 with a degree in marketing. He went on to an illustrious career at such noteworthy firms as J. Walter Thompson, Ted Bates and Norman Craig & Kummel. Along the way, he met and married his lovely wife, Anita, and raised a family. Today, retired and living in Florida, Maury and Anita are staunch supporters of Baruch-in-Florida alumni activities. In 2006, the Lerman’s created a Charitable Gift Annuity which supplements their annual retirement income. “We actively support Baruch because my education there was the foundation of a very successful life for us.”

‘Paying Back’ and Payments for Life

“Paying back Baruch for a virtually tuition-free education was my motivation for making the donation. The annuity feature makes it a little easier to justify making the gift. It is much less of a strain on the budget for those whose retirement is under budgetary restraints. It provides tax benefits and a lifetime payment stream for both of us, which is a good thing too!”
