Continuing the Tradition

Gerry and Bob Becker

Bob and Gerry Becker are both alums of Baruch College. Bob graduated in ’57 and Gerry in ’58. They met at Baruch when participating in various clubs and working on the Ticker. Since graduation they’ve built fantastic careers and raised a wonderful family: two daughters are attorneys and his son has an MBA.

They are active as volunteers and trustees at many non-profit organizations including two theaters in New England and a public radio station in Albany. Bob is very active at Baruch, serving as a member of the Planned Giving Advisory Committee where he helps other alums who wish to utilize creative giving methods to make an impact on the students of Baruch.

“The traditions learned from our parents and then expanded by our education at Baruch have sustained us in life and have now passed down to our children. Working together as alumni of Baruch, we can all continue the traditions we value through our support of future generations of Baruch students.”

Bequest: A Legacy of Life

Gerry and Bob Becker’s success in life, besides the fact that they are very much in love, is due in part to the foundations they received from Baruch College. “When it came time to plan for our retirement, we decided that in our wills we would honor and remember those aspects of our lives that made us who we are. First among our many philanthropic legacies is our bequest to Baruch College. It is where our lives together began, and the education we received from Baruch has guided us through tough times and good times.

“Anyone can make an impact on the future of Baruch and its students with a gift in their will. Everyone should consider it. It is a creative way to give and provides benefits for your own estate as well as for the future students of our alma mater. We encourage you all to think about it!”
