Irving Silverman Gives Back to Life-Changing Institution

Irving Silverman '41 says he owes his success as a trade association executive to "Baruch, which was the springboard of my career and exposed me to all sorts of opportunities. In a time when most of those who attended Baruch were the children of immigrant families, I was fortunate that Baruch helped me in my career choices—enabling me to do my life's work and teaching me the importance of giving back to the community and to society."

Retiring after 45 years as a trade association executive, Irving Silverman went on to three other post-retirement careers: as a trade show organizer, for a religious organization, and now as a philanthropist. Irving says that Baruch "taught us all how to find new ways to achieve."

Philanthropy: A New Way to Achieve

Now Irving, as a philanthropist and head of a philanthropic family, says that helping find new ways to help others is the "most satisfying work I've ever done in my life."

Irving and the Silverman family have established a charitable trust that distributes funds each year to charities they've identified as being "life changers," as Baruch was for Irving! "I've dedicated my retirement life to benefiting other people and helping causes I care for do better for themselves and others."

Like Irving Silverman, you can find the creative way to give back to Baruch that suits you best and helps accomplish what is important to you and your family.
